Subwoofers and Factory Stereo?

Question 1
Subwoofers and Factory Stereo?...  i just got a 2004 mazda 6 hatchback and im about to install my subs. it has a stock bose sounds ystem and headunit and i really dont want to get a different one. i was wondering if its possible to wire the subs to the stock unit rather than having to get a new deck. thanks so much!
i got 2 alpine type r's (12in) and a Alpine pdx 1.1000 amp

Answers
1)   get a good quality 'line output converter' and you will be fine. i use a mtx re-q. - dragon breath

2)   A line output converter MAY not work with the Bose system. Bose systems tend to be difficult to work with. Your best bet is to contact a local car audio shop, tell them what you have, and then follow their recommendation. Several companies make adapters that will allow you to add your subs and make them sound the best they possibly can. - Tom

3)   I had two kicker l7s running with a stock headunit in my h3. Then I put in a touchscreen headunit and it made everything louder especially the door speakers. - Cscoggins

Question 2
kicker cvx 12's question.....?...  OK so i just bought a pair of 12 inch kicker CVX's 4 ohms and an amp....i have a hifonics brutus 1600 watt amp and i know i am under powering them....i was wondering how many RMS each sub can handle??

Thnx

Scott

Answers
1)   here all the info you need about your subs ,and yes you are underpowering your subs

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6513_Kicker+CVX124.html - chevy#1

2)   If you are running them at 1 ohm, then you are powering them just right... They are 750 watts each rms, and at 1 ohm, the amp is 1600, probably closer to 1400, so you are just right! - d_monie3

3)   the kickers are rated for 750 watts rms each so 1500 watts rms for the pair. the brutus really makes around 1350 watts rms so you are pretty close. - dragon breath

Question 3
What is the loudest 12" single subwoofer in world?...

Answers
1)   It all depends on many factors to make it the loudest... Could be the RE Audio XXX or their new MT, also the Kicker Solo X, maybe the pioneer SPL champion, Orion HCCA, Fi BTL... Its really impossible to say... Depends on the box, the amp, etc... - d_monie3

2)   their is no clear cut answer to that question. their are too many variables, car, wattage, box etc.here are some of the top contenders.

digital designs z series

critical mass ul12

dc sounds level 5

fi car audio btl

kicker solo x

cactus sounds

audiopulse axis - dragon breath

3)   i doubt that there is a loudest 12 inch sub in the world....technology is changing everyday...once somebody makes something that they think is unbeatable, someone improves on it. - Mahsan

Question 4
Can someone help explain car amp lingo?...  i am looking for a new amp for my car. the amp i have came with the speakers and the amp has blewn. i want something that will power my two 10 inch kenwood subs. i have no idea what OHMS and wattsX1 channel and mono subwoofer amps and class D and all that stuff. could you help me so i can find an amp with knowlegde and i will know what im looking for and i will know what i am buying

Answers
1)   Ohms is the electrical resistance.

Wattsx1 is the max amount of wattage when the amp is wired in one channel.

Mono means the amp has one + and one - output.

Class D amps are generally the most powerful and the most efficient class of amplifiers. - TCWorkhorse

2)   First of all Ohms are your impedance and you need to match that with the impedance of your subs. Also you need match the rms of your subs with the rms of your amp. Since you have 2 subs you combine the rms. The Mono means it has one channel so you will have to wire both of the subs to the single channel (the way most people go). Class D monoblock amps are made for subs. Hope this helped :) - dtm

3)   Figure out what ohm and rms power that your speakers run. If you buy a mono amp, that means you will wire your subs in parallel. Paralleling speakers halfs the impedance (in ohms). I'm sure your subs are probably 4 ohm subs, so you need to look for an amp that can handle a 2 ohm load. Impedance is most important! Any wattage amp will power subs. However, an underpowered amp won't get as loud or sound as good. - Brian
